Here at Holy Corner we understand that the best way for children to learn is to keep them interested and motivated – with a close eye kept on helping each child to take the next step.
An example of our daily activities (Monday to Thursday):
- 9.00 – 9.30am: Welcome the children / Free play / Story time in book corner
- 9.30am: Open up outside
- 9.30 – 10.00am: Free play / Weather reporter checks weather
- 10.00 – 10.10am: Calendar time – Hello song / Days of the week / Date count / Weather report / Song of the week
- 10.10 – 11.00am: Rolling snack / Free play
- 11.00 – 11.15am: Stories in book corner
- 11.45 – 11.55am: All adults begin tidying up
- 11.55 – 12.10pm: Tidy up music on (Children and adults tidy up)
- 12.10 – 12.20pm: End of the day songs / Movement / Dancing
- 12.20pm: Home time
Friday follows a similar pattern but we have a shorter day, finishing at 11.35am.
The activities we have during free play time include:
- In the main play room: crafts, baking, painting, theme-related, role play, bikes, a slide, balance beams, dens, sensory play
- Outdoors: sand and water, imaginative and exploratory play, gardening and investigating mini-beasts, loose parts, mark making, outside kitchen, tents
