Here are some of the questions that come up - we hope our answers help!

Can my child attend full days?

We operate morning play sessions only. Please see the Enrolment page for detailed timings.

I work and am unable to do rota - can my child still attend?

Yes, there are a number of different ways that you can contribute as a member of the Parent Committee. Please contact us to find out more.

Can I do split funding?

Yes, we are a Partner Provider for Edinburgh City Council, and you can split this funding between different nurseries and Early Years providers.

Can my child do ad hoc days?

We ask all children to attend a minimum of three days per week. This is to ensure that they form quick and trusting relationships with the practitioners and other children. Once your child is attending, you can request additional adhoc days if there is capacity within Playgroup for this to be possible.

Are your staff trained?

Yes, all of our staff are trained.

What is the difference between a playgroup and a nursery?

We call ourselves a playgroup to be true to our roots as a community playgroup - something which used to be more commonplace a generation ago. However, in many ways we operate like a nursery: we have the same education standards, our practitioners have the same qualifications, we are regulated by the same authorities, and have the same duty of care to the children. But we are also different in many ways, though this is perhaps less a distinction in the name we use. As a charity, we are not profit-making, and therefore aim to keep our fees as low as possible. As a community playgroup, parents and carers have more involvement in their child’s early years education.

Can I come visit?

Please do. You can arrange a visit during Playgroup hours by using the details on the Contact Us page. The best way to see Playgroup is when the children are in, so we would love you to arrange a visit.

What are your fees?

Please look at our Enrolment page for current fees.
